Being a Payroll Clerk updates payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records. Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle. Additionally, Payroll Clerk responds to pay-related inquiries from staff. Researches and resolves errors or omissions. May prepare and submit reports and forms required by IRS or other regulatory bodies. Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Payroll Clerk works under moderate supervision. Duties:
- Process payroll on a weekly basis (direct deposit only)
- Calculate time, deductions, and withholdings
- Prepare and distribute payroll
- Address any payroll-related queries or concerns from employees
- Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
- Assist in the preparation of reports for management
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accuracy of employee data
Skills:
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Experience with account reconciliation
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Understanding of debits, credits, and accounts payable processes
- Previous experience with Pro Contractor/ Viewpoint software is a plus
