Texas Meter & Device is hiring for a full-time meter reader (gas and minimal electric) in the North Texas area. The service area is north central and north east of the DFW metroplex. Service area includes many of these areas: Flower Mound, The Colony, Frisco, Prosper, Corinth, Allen, and others.

Training will start at our facility in Irving, TX, but after successful training, readers will report to the facility in Corinth, TX at the beginning and end of each day.

Readers on this project are considered full time and readers generally average 6-8 hours/day. Don't let this opportunity pass you by!

Initial training pay is $18/hour. After successful completion of training, pay moves to piece rate with technicians currently averaging $25 - 42/hour based on production/piece rate.

Under the general direction of the Project/Field Supervisor, the Meter Reader will be reading residential and commercial gas meters (minimal electric may also be included).

Responsibilities include:

• Will read residential class and commercial class gas and/or electric meters
• Use a hand held device provided by the company to record accurate read information
• Maintain accurate records of work completed
• Oversee any materials, uniforms, equipment, vehicle and tools required to complete the work
• Be punctual and dependable to a set work schedule
• Recording of subsequent information in the field as required
• Coordinate scheduling and meets quality / quantity requirements
• Provide for excellence in internal and external customer service by creating a positive experience for customers, end users and communities through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results
• Demonstrate, at all times, safety in all aspects of the work including driving, parking, accessing customer property, and adherence to all TMD safety standards and operating procedures
• Other duties and tasks as assigned or necessary

Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude is necessary
• Ability to use hand held device and other equipment as required for the position
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. The work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary
• Ability to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Stable Multi-year Work History
• Clear criminal history
• Attention to Detail
• Dependability
• Previous meter reading experience preferred but not required
• Good Communication Skills (speaking, reading and writing)
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have a minimum of 3 years of personal or professional driving experience due to insurance requirements
• Must have own personal Smart phone
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle
• Additional Requirements: Background check clearance including drug screening and I-9 documentation as required by law

Shift and Pay Info:

After training, pay is piece rate and technicians are currently averaging $25/hr or more.

Training wage is $18/hr and training generally lasts 2-3 days at most.

Monday – Friday, with Saturday work REQUIRED at times (on occasion)

Work hours are generally between the hours of 6:30 am - 4pm ( usually no more than an 8 hour shift during this time frame and once routes are well known, it generally is less than an 8 hour day).
