Mechanical Engineer designs, analyzes, and maintains mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Utilizes technical instruments to develop specifications for new parts, modifications, or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineer identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements. Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues or failures to identify root causes and develop solutions. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Mechanical Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Davis and Plomin is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to our Lexington, KY Office. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conceptual design, creating construction drawings, construction administration on design-build HVAC and plumbing systems and coordinating with the installation team, throughout central Kentucky.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Perform building heating and cooling load calculations for HVAC equipment sizing and design.
    • Assist with drafting building Mechanical and Plumbing systems using Revit and AutoCad to produce permit and construction drawings for design/build projects.
    • Help manage RFIs and Submittals on design/build projects.
    • Help improve drafting standards and Revit templates/families
    • Perform site visits to see the installation process to ensure design objectives are being met and to learn how to improve future designs based on constructability.
    • Apply standard engineering design principles and methodologies as well as applicable codes in the preparation of construction documents.
    • Lead conceptual and schematic design phases of projects to ensure design fundamentals meet client expectations and code requirements.
    • Prepare design documentation including drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, etc.
    • Prepare specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents.
    • Assist in presentations to prospective clients. Participate in client presentations as needed
    • Prepare proposals in response to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) including development of competitive pricing.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) designation or Engineer In Training (EIT), preferred.
    • Minimum of two years related experience.
    • Strong aptitude in engineering design.
    • Strong computer skills (AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Office).
    • Well developed, detail oriented organizational skills.
    • Ability to work as part of a design team as well as independently.
