Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. To perform a variety of duties required in maintaining production dies and other tooling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Additional Responsibilities:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to work any shift with reasonable overtime.
Education/ Experience:
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, with math skills to calculate overall dimension and tolerances.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a tool & die shop, using tool shop equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Capable of reading and constructing die sections from a print with close tolerances.
• Thoroughly familiar with tool shop practices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is required to stand for extended periods of time, stand and use hands to grasp, handle or feel. Employee may on occasion be required to speak, hear, bend, stood, kneel, crouch, and walk on wet surfaces. The employee must frequently lift, move, and/or drag/push more than 40 pounds. Employee may also be requested to extended shift, work overtime, and /or weekends. Employee will work with solvents, oils and grease daily (gloves are required to protect hands and fingers ) Employee must be willing and able to abide by all safety policies.
ENVIROMENT:
Duties are performed primarily at a manufacturing setting and may expose employee to laud noise levels, extreme temperatures, chemical and fumes, and moving mechanical parts. Work is completed in a non-climate-controlled plant environment and employee will have frequent interaction with managers and other employees. Standard hazards within a manufacturing plant where safety precautions and personal protective equipment must be maintained all the time.
