Position Summary

The Logistics Analyst facilitates the improvement of transportation and warehouse supply chain network by analyzing costs and business strategy resulting in making recommendations to optimize the supply chain. Critical to the success of a Logistics Analyst is a strong analytical background, including being able to develop new data sources.

Essential Tasks Of The Position

• Use analytical capabilities to drive supply chain optimization efforts designed to improve supply chain efficiencies (i.e., hub-spoke set up, including port of destination, strategic stocking opportunities, and optimal delivery mode)
• Evaluate incoterms to provide value-add to external partners (i.e., visibility, on time performance, cost efficiencies) while increasing depth of relationship.
• Analyze expected vs actual vs market rates for domestic transportation, global forwarding, warehouse expenses, and other logistics related costs.
• Conduct regular reviews of standard cost estimates.
• Collaborate with commercial, supply chain, and pricing teams to adjust standard cost and pricing to more accurately account for supply chain costs.
• Create profitability analyses of new partners or services.
• Provide secondary support to other logistics team members on logistics quotes, escalations, and process improvements.
• Identify opportunities to assume logistical responsibilities for customers and or suppliers.
• Identify opportunities and create strategies to expand Freight as a Profit Center initiatives.
• Research opportunities to provide value added services and perform ROI and cost/benefit analyses.
• Benchmark current logistics capabilities with external market research.
• Manage carrier scorecard and participate in meetings to discuss carrier performance.
• Administer RFP or identification/selection process around determining carriers and value-added services.

Continuous Improvement

• Review and refine operational reporting and use resulting data to continually seek new efficiencies and advantages.
• Develop new and improved methods of company efficiency and productivity, with a focus on automation and streamlining processes.
• Orchestrate improvement of departmental policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with other departments to implement and monitor effectiveness.
• Evaluate and update departmental workflows and processes.
• Institute and maintain quality incentive program.

Activities of the position affect quality including the quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:

• Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary, stopping production to correct quality problems.
• Identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
• Document problem, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notify all parties required.
• Initiating, recommending, or providing solutions through designated channels.
• Verifying the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Position Requirements

Education:

• 4-year bachelor’s degree in business management or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years related work experience.

Knowledge/Skills:

• In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles such as supply chain, customer service, sales support, human resources etc.)
• Strong delegation and follow-up skills
• Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
• Detail oriented with strong, accurate clerical skills.
• Proficient at multi-tasking
• Proactive problem solver
• Highly motivated

Physical Requirements:

• Satisfactory motor skills relevant to position
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
