Life Underwriting Director directs and oversees the life insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups. Responsible for ensuring integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Life Underwriting Director provides coaching to underwriters and assists on more complex applications. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Additionally, Life Underwriting Director typically requires Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification or Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Typically reports to top management. The Life Underwriting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Director of Organizational Health and Belonging

    In partnership with the Vice President, Organizational Health & Belonging, the Director of Organizational Health & Belonging is responsible for stewarding the development, implementation, and promotion of Young Life’s Organizational Health and DEB programming (e.g., projects, tools, content, etc.) in support of YL’s organizational priority to help increase YL’s overall organizational health index and become more diverse, equitable, and belonging missional community. This position will build, lead, and develop the systems, tools, and programs that drive and sustain culture change in alignment with Young Life’s global organizational health and DEB goals, with specific oversight concerning its global aspirations. This role will also partner with other organizational stakeholders to ensure that organizational health and DEB programming is integrated appropriately to increase its efficacy and impact.

    Essential Duties

    Spiritual Development

    • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, study, prayer, and worship.
    • Ensure that all Young Life work is designed and carried out with an awareness of and in alignment with Young Life’s Values and Methods.
    • Develop strong spiritual disciplines and accountability considering possible distance supervision and travel schedule.

    Organizational Health and Belonging Culture Leadership

    • Partner with the VP of Organizational Health and Belonging to help create, design, and help execute a global strategic plan to promote and increase organizational health
    • Partner with the Vice President of Organizational Health and Belonging to steward Young Life’s DEB advisory council and DEB Cornerstones and support efforts to drive Young Life’s DEB Operational plan.
    • Develop and implement relevant learning offerings, in close collaboration with the Learning & Leadership Development department, to promote cultural intelligence and increase individual and organizational cultural competence.
    • Encourage and facilitate collaboration across the greater mission of Young Life; including YL College, YoungLives, Capernaum, WyldLife, Club Beyond, and Catholic Relations.
    • Be a visible, present “Culture Carrier” of organizational health, cultural intelligence, and DEB initiatives in partnership with Functional leadership and other key stakeholders.
    • Lead, shape, and advance Young Life’s cultural narrative to drive a culture of organizational health and belonging deep into YL’s DNA.

    Program & Project Management

    • Discern and partner with mission leadership (especially in the international community) to jumpstart, steward, and advance global organizational health and belonging efforts
    • Plan, guide, and advise key stakeholders on organizational health and diversity, equity, and belonging matters.
    • Educate, equip, and empower staff and leaders to successfully partner to advance organizational health and belonging in their ministry context
    • Partner with key stakeholders (e.g., Learning & Leadership Development, MarComms, Field, etc.) to help support the implementation of Organizational Health and Belonging best practices throughout the mission
    • Develop new and innovative programming that supports mission efforts to advance organizational health and belonging across all levels and contexts.

    Communication

    • Develop and steward a focused communication plan for organizational health and belonging. This includes handling all communications in a timely fashion; serving as a key spokesperson for organizational health and belonging offerings; facilitating regular (e.g. monthly) contact opportunities for key stakeholders; and driving organizational health and belonging storytelling that supports Young Life’s culture change.
    • Promote Young Life’s commitment to organizational health and belonging through internal and external mediums.
    • Produce, analyze, and provide professional findings and status reports, and deliver effective and impactful presentations as required.

    Consultation & Collaboration

    • Partner with senior leadership to support efforts to advance belonging in their contexts and across the global mission.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create, implement, and monitor programs and projects designed to drive the creation and sustaining of a missional culture of organizational health and belonging.
    • Support mission-wide organizational health and belonging programming to achieve desired outcomes resulting in healthier teams that better reflect their communities and a mission that embraces, values, and leverages difference to increase missional impact.
    • Act as an interface between ministry units (e.g., Field, Camping, Mission Services, etc.), stakeholders, and teams.
    • Actively participate and lead in mission-wide, group, and divisional programming as needed.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Specific Working Conditions

    • Role permits remote work.
    • Occasional national and international travel (as needed).
    • The anticipation salary for this position can range from $86,049-$110,916 depending on relevant education and experience.

    Professional Qualifications Required

    • Ability to clearly communicate Young Life’s mission and the vision for organizational health and belonging.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience leading and supporting organizational health, diversity, equity, and belonging programming.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices concerning organizational health, diversity, equity, and belonging programming and change management.
    • Proven ability to design and implement programming that advances organizational health, diversity, equity, and belonging.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (required). Demonstrated ability to learn and use other pertinent software programs, including project management platforms (preferred).
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-driven environment. This includes managing multiple tasks and deadlines and moving work forward in a timely manner, preparing work plans, delegating tasks, overseeing follow-through, and keeping supervisor informed of project(s) work plan.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats (i.e., oral, written, visual) and diverse stakeholders including executive leadership.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, sharing tasks as necessary, both as a team leader and as a team member.
    • Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
    • CQ and UB Trained and Certified

    Professional Qualifications Preferred

    • Past or current involvement in local, regional, divisional, and/or other Young Life focused ministry, or similar experience.
    • Experience and understanding of Young Life culture.

    Education

    • Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
