Legal Services Director jobs in Colorado

Legal Services Director oversees the activities of the organization's legal department. Provides legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding contracts, state/federal regulatory requirements, intellectual property or trademark protection, and other business matters. Being a Legal Services Director reviews all information and prepares defense for any legal actions against the organization or advises on prosecuting lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Coordinates and reviews the work of internal or external legal staff. Additionally, Legal Services Director manages staff of attorneys. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Legal Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Legal Services Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Opportunity:
    We seek an innovative Director of People and Culture who can build a dynamic human
    resources program from the ground up, focusing on nurturing a culture rooted in diversity,
    equity, inclusivity, professionalism, and growth. This role is not just about managing HR
    processes; it is about leading a transformative journey for our staff and organization through
    partnership, empathy, strategy, and foresight, while building on our organizational culture of
    collaboration and excellence.

    The Role:
    As the Director of People and Culture, you will play a key role in shaping our human resources
    strategy and organizational culture. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human
    resources, including recruitment, staff development, engagement/retention, performance
    management, and employee relations. This role requires a leader who is innovative,
    collaborative, and thoughtful, with a strong commitment to driving positive change.

    Key Performance Goals and Responsibilities:

    1. Innovative HR Program Development:

    Within the first year, create and implement an exceptional HR program, embodying our
    values and driving organizational change.

    2. Collaborative Strategic Leadership:
    As part of our senior leadership team, work in tandem with other senior leadership to
    develop HR strategies that enhance employee growth, retention, and recruitment, while
    championing our mission.

    3. Thoughtful Performance Management:
    Design and establish a comprehensive performance management system within 6
    months that emphasizes continuous development through coaching and aligns with our
    goals.

    4. DEI Advocacy and Integration:
    Co-lead DEI initiatives in conjunction with CLS’s DEI Committee and leadership, ensuring
    these principles are deeply integrated into all aspects of HR and organizational practices.

    5. Comprehensive HR Management:
    Oversee HR processes with a focus on harm reduction, compliance, effectiveness, data
    collection and analysis, and alignment with our organizational values and our collective
    bargaining agreement, while providing empathetic guidance and training to staff and
    management.


    Who We Are Looking For:

    • A bachelor’s degree with strong HR experience, including experience in a leadership and
    management role. Six or more years of experience in an HR senior management or
    director level position will be considered in place of a bachelor’s degree.
    • An innovative thinker with a proven track record in developing and implementing
    strategic HR initiatives.
    • Proven ability to develop and implement innovative HR strategies.
    • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and the ability to thoughtfully collaborate on
    questions of federal, state, and local employment laws.
    • A collaborative and thoughtful leader with a demonstrated commitment to DEI.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment, exercising excellent
    judgment.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income, historically excluded, or vulnerable
    populations.
    • HR or DEI Certification.
    • Experience in legal services, non-profit organizations, and/or government agencies.
    • Experience with collective bargaining agreements.
    • Experience building a department from the ground up.


    Compensation and Benefits:
    CLS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% employer-paid premiums for
    health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance. Employees are eligible for a 403(b)
    retirement plan. Additionally, CLS provides a generous paid time-off policy and supports
    work/life balance with flexible work schedules and hybrid work arrangements. A unique aspect
    of the compensation package is a $4,200 yearly stipend, offered in addition to the position
    salary.
