Analyzes LAN/WAN and recommends upgrades/changes and security procedures and policies; assesses organization's current and future LAN/WAN needs. Being a LAN/WAN Integrator requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The LAN/WAN Integrator typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a LAN/WAN Integrator typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Falmouth Elementary School seeks an enthusiastic and innovative Technology Teacher to join our elementary education team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about integrating technology and engineering skills into the curriculum, fostering digital citizenship, and enhancing problem-solving abilities among students in grades 3-5. This role involves designing and implementing engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning in young students. A major function of the Technology Teacher is to teach classes of 3rd - 5th grade students as part of the Unified Arts department.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Curriculum Development and Instruction:
      • Develop and deliver a comprehensive technology curriculum aligned with ISTE standards and school goals.
      • Integrate technology and engineering principles through hands-on projects and in collaboration with classroom teachers.
      • Teach students how to use various digital tools and software applications effectively.
      • Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive and collaborative learning experiences.
      • Curriculum units in this class should be grounded in the design cycle (which will necessitate collaboration, creativity, problem solving, interaction, prototyping, etc.)
    • Digital Citizenship:
      • Educate students on the principles of digital citizenship, including online safety, privacy, and ethical use of technology.
      • Promote responsible use of technology and the internet.
      • Guide students in understanding the impact of their digital footprint and making positive choices online.
    • Classroom Management:
      • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
      • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe learning space for all students.
      • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Assessment and Evaluation:
      • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
      • Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents and guardians.
      • Use data to inform instructional practices and improve student outcomes.
    • Professional Development:
      • Stay current with educational technology trends and best practices.
      • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
      • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop units that integrate the science and technology standards into UA and classroom instruction.
      • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and strategies for effective technology integration.
    • Community and Collaboration:
      • Work closely with other teachers, administrators, and IT staff to support the school's technology initiatives.
      • Involve parents and the community in technology-related events and projects.
      • Serve as a resource for students and staff regarding technology use and troubleshooting.
    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology Education, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
    • 020 Maine Elementary Education (K-6) certification is required.
    • Previous experience teaching computer science, robotics and technology at the elementary level preferred. Experience with technology integration in the classroom is highly desirable.
    • Skills:
      • Strong knowledge of educational technology tools and applications.
      • Ability to design and implement engaging, age-appropriate technology lessons.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Proficiency in managing a classroom and creating a positive learning environment.
      • Commitment to fostering digital citizenship and ethical technology use.

    Work Environment
