JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Controller at our Bay St. Louis, MS site. This position is responsible for all site general and cost accounting, financial reporting, assisting to develop business strategies, and metrics tied to those strategies. Working in a U.S. Government contracting environment, this role requires a solid understanding of cost pools and bases, direct and indirect rates, as well as the accounting rules for long term agreements and revenue recognition.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with executive level interaction as well as hands-on manufacturing performance evaluation. As part of the leadership team, the Controller will serve as business advisor to the site General Manager to improve financial performance, as well as Program and Treasury Managers.
JOB DUTIES
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, business activity reports and financial position forecasts that are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements
• Applicable cost accounting activities with CAS allocation
• Oversee Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and all period-end close processes
• Develop business and financial recommendations to assist leadership with key financial decisions such as pricing decisions, cost reduction actions, and capital expenditure spending
• Maintain internal control practices and procedures to provide reliable financial information and guard the assets of the company
• Steer short and long-term cash forecasts by monitoring cash balances and providing close supervision of accounts receivable and account payable activities to support cashflow expectations and manage working capital
• Preparation of monthly and annual budgets and forecasts, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting schedules, documentation, and justification
• Perform all cost accounting functions, including management and analysis of cost pools, direct and indirect burden rates
• Collaborate with Program Management team on completion of Program EACs (Estimate at Completion)
• Collect and analyze data to report actual costs of business activity such as raw materials, overhead and labor; investigate, explain, and resolve variances from standard costs
• Analyze data related to contribution margin results which includes inventory consumption, utilization of manufacturing processes, and direct labor absorption
• Provide support for the financial aspects of the ERP system ensuring rates are current and accurate
• Support financial audits with internal and external auditors and implement recommendations for procedural improvements
• Support completion and timely submission of required governmental filings
• Work as an integral member of the senior leadership team providing accounting expertise on a proactive basis
• Participate in other projects and duties as requested
• Financial management knowledge including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost, internal controls, and analysis
• Strong business acumen with a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to simultaneously lead and manage multiple projects
• Strong understanding of Internal Controls, GAAP and IFRS
• Highly proficient in financial analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Skilled in maintenance of cost pools and the development of indirect and direct burden rates
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, yet able to see the top level/big picture
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills and a solid working knowledge of ERP systems
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to prioritize workload and dynamically problem solve with minimal direct supervision

• Must be able to maintain confidentiality with all business information and activities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 10 years of progressive experience in accounting including Cost and General Accounting
• 2 years of plant level Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field
• Experience with JAMIS Software System a plus
• Experience with Federal Government Contracting including knowledge and application of relevant contracting laws, rules and regulations including FAR, DFAR, CAS & ITAR
• Experience interacting directly with DCMA and/or DCAA
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
