Environmental Technician

Mellor Engineering is seeking a full time Environmental Technician. This position is located on U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground, Dugway, Utah. The successful candidate will enjoy working a 4/10 work week: four ten hour days with Fridays off.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs work primarily on military installations
• Enters information into computer systems
• Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances
• Move supplies and materials to proper location by forklifts, pallet jack, or drum dolly
• Segregates, packages, labels, photocopies various paperwork, and prepares drums or bulk material for shipment
• Conducts daily and weekly inspections, data entry, sampling, waste pickup and transportation
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

General Requirements:

• Valid commercial driver’s license with hazmat indorsement and less than three (3) moving violations within the last (3) years and no DUI convictions.

Educational Requirements:

• High School Graduate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic familiarity in hazardous waste and chemical industry helpful
• Be able to obtain a valid commercial driver’s license
• Computer literate to access database, enter, and retrieve information
• Be able to obtain a 40 hour HAZWOPER certificate

Physical Skills and Efforts:

Requires frequent and prolonged use of extremities including limbs and hands to operate small tools, hoses, and pumps. Must be able to climb into and out of equipment while wearing personal protective equipment, respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus. May require frequent walking, standing, and lifting. Must be able to move heavy objects, more than 45 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Requires constant (at least 95% of the time) exposure to the outside elements. May be exposed to seasonal extremes of temperature for at least 95% of the time during seasonal cycles. Incumbent may be required to wear a respirator and personal protective equipment when working close to hazardous waste or materials.

About Dugway Proving Ground:

Located in Utah’s remote West Desert Dugway Proving Ground operates under a four day work week (10 working hours per day) providing a consistent three (3) day weekend for employees.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
