SUMMARY: The Director of Instructional Technology oversees the implementation of the Instructional Technology Strategic Plan and Technology Services Department. They will facilitate the integration of digital tools and best practices into curriculum and administrative systems as well as be a hands-on implementer. The Director will guide, support, mentor, monitor, and evaluate technology team members to ensure that each of them serves as a strong leader and creates an environment of shared knowledge and purpose among the technology team. The manager will support staff development opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of staff as it relates to integrating technology into academic programming.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCH SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup Tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200 tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in technology integration PreK-12
- Knowledge of information technology devices, audiovisual equipment, computer hardware and software operations
- Ability to support teachers in the application of knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Ability to work independently at routine tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Evidence of successful collaboration with other professionals
- Understanding of current technology based programming languages that will create opportunities for data development, retrieval and reporting.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the use of technology in the district in both the academic and infrastructural systems
- Direct the preservation of assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
- Oversee, facilitate and lead all work, activities, and training associated with the technology plan and annual updates.
- Assist with the coordination of technology for Washington State Assessment and work with the appropriate district department on required Washington State Testing reporting requirements.
- Support Chief Leschi School’s refresh process with the evaluation of current resources.
- Support the carrying out of the systems strategic plan
- Maintain knowledge related to the effective use of technology in the school’s educational program
- Plans and coordinates the implementation of special activities to promote technology.
- Provides leadership for short – and long – ranges planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
- Works collaboratively with the superintendent, and building leadership to develop, implement, and sustain the PreK-12 curriculum, reflective of best practices, with innovative and effective infusion of technology.
- Select, disaggregate and analyze data that can be used to evaluate and improve practice/ programs associated with moving the technology plan forward
- Effectively allocate and manage resources to support strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Possess the understanding of industry-standard related practices and procedures of regulations and guidelines as they relate to the purchase and use of software (specifically copyright laws and the use of licensed equipment and materials)
- Use appropriate technology to accomplish work tasks efficiently and effectively

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in instructional technology, Instructional Design, education, or related field; BA and additional experience may be considered in lieu of MA degree
- Five of year of supervisory experience school district, college, university or other public agency setting
- Five years of experience in educational technology
- Broad knowledge of existing and emerging instructional technology and knowledge of educational technology trends and issues
- Experience using educational technology to create and support engaging and equitable learning experiences
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Distinguished computer skills in PC Operating Systems, in an “active directory integrated environment” such as Microsoft and Adobe Creative Applications
- Demonstrated successful experience in process facilitation (compression planning or other methodology)
- Demonstrated successful experience as a leader
- Develop and monitor a budget
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Select, train, supervise and evaluate support personnel
- Current knowledge of, or will be able to install, repair and maintain the hardware configurations and computer –related items on contract and of the other technology-related stated contract products.
- Valid teaching license and taught in a K-12 environment during career.
- Proven track record of supervising and mentoring technical employees to high performance
