    The District Instructional Technology Specialist facilitates the strategic integration of technology to empower educators and transform student learning through close collaboration with teachers, staff, students, and parents. The Instructional Technology Specialist champions the development of a flexible learning environment that caters to diverse student needs through differentiated instruction. This role supports the implementation of various technology tools and platforms, including the district's Learning Management System (LMS). Through targeted professional development initiatives, the specialist equips educators with the skills and knowledge to leverage technology effectively, ultimately fostering a more engaging and enriching educational experience for all students.

    Essential Functions :
    • Encourages student and staff development of skills in the use of instructional technology resources through coaching and training efforts.
    • Supports and models effective use of universal and targeted (multi-tiered) instructional practices using technology in the classroom through co-planning and co-teaching activities.
    • Engages teachers in job-embedded coaching experiences by means of listening, explaining, modeling, observing, exploring, supporting and reflecting with teachers throughout the process.
    • Supports staff through a reflective process that allows and supports teachers to critically examine their practice in order to identify strengths and challenges to accelerate the instructional growth process for teachers.
    • Supports adherence to the Student Online Privacy Protection Act (SOPPA) and the related approval and cataloging of resources.
    • Facilitates and supports the use of the Learning Management Systems (LMS) in the district, including professional learning and troubleshooting concerns.
    • Assists with the implementation of school-wide and District-wide strategies, such as data-driven teaching, learning walks, and instructional rounds to best support teacher growth.
    • Supports teachers, students, and administrators with the integration of software and technological platforms that support 21 st century learning.
    • Designs and delivers training for school staff to build capacity and understanding related to the necessary strategies to implement online/blended instructional practices and the instructional strategies necessary to encourage the use of devices within the classroom through means of coaching, modeling, supporting, problem solving, and communication.
    • Actively participates in the planning and design of the online/blended instructional model.
    • Establishes an environment encouraging creative and independent use of instructional technology.
    • Facilitates the use of existing and emerging technology by staff and students through the creation of interactive videos and web training for teacher learning to occur at any time or location.
    • Partners with the Technology Department to ensure access to technology resources for easy accessibility by students and staff.
    • Works cooperatively with the school staff, the school improvement teams, the Teaching and Learning Department, and the Technology Department.
    • Assists building administration and school improvement teams with incorporating the principles of the district instructional technology plan into the school technology planning. Also ensures that technology is an integral part of the school improvement plan and supports the school's curriculum and instructional program.
    • Promotes and articulates the district technology philosophy to staff, parents, and members of the community.
    • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the alignment between district and school curricula, assessments, and instructional practices within the classroom.
    • Participates in ongoing professional learning as required and/or suggested by the Teaching and Learning Department and Technology Department, in collaboration with building administration.
    • Attends ongoing training pertinent to curriculum and technology integration in order to keep abreast of new developments in instructional technology.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    SKILLS Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision. Must be able show evidence of leadership and organizational skills.
    KNOWLEDGE is required to demonstrate mastery of curriculum development; successful instructional practices demonstrated within the classroom by evidence within the teacher evaluation process as excellent in the area of instruction and professionalism. Considerable working knowledge of the ability to integrate and connect technology with curriculum within the classroom on a consistent basis. Must be able to show evidence in providing training for adults and managing projects and/or organizing large scale professional development.
    ABILITY to establish and maintain positive and supportive working relationships with all stakeholders to be flexible and change as needed. Ability to demonstrate organizational skill and taking initiative for working with minimal direct supervision.

    Work Environment :
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

    Experience : Proven experience and expertise teaching in Blended and Online modalities; Proven experience with Learning Management Systems; Proven experience in engagement technologies. Three (3) years of successful teaching experience.

    Education : Master's degree from an accredited college or university; Google Certified; Multiple areas of certification.
