About The Role
As an Assistant Supervisor at Baja Fresh, you will play a crucial role in overseeing food preparation, production, and service. Responsibilities include assigning tasks to team members, providing training in food preparation techniques, ensuring equipment safety, maintaining sanitation standards, and managing inventory. Additionally, you will monitor food quality throughout the entire process and ensure adherence to portion control guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and serving according to standard recipes
- Coordinate work schedules and ensure timetables are met
- Maintain inventory and food service records
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Provide guidance to team members on food safety and sanitation
- Collaborate with the supervisor to ensure high quality of food and supplies
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 12-24 months of previous restaurant/customer service experience
- Proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment
- Basic math and computer skills
- Effective communication in English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Understanding of nutrition and portion control
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Stand and/or walk for extended periods
- Exposure to varying temperatures and chemical odors
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and during University closings if necessary
- ServSafe Certification
- 12 months of restaurant kitchen/cooking supervisory experience
- Supervises a small staff
- Receives general supervision from the restaurant manager
- Safe Food Handling and Sanitation Certification may be required
