The Aspen Brands Company (kateaspen.com; babyaspen.com) is looking for a creative and talented Industrial Designer with strong graphic design capabilities. The Industrial Designer will work with a highly creative, energetic and passionate product development and design team. Our designers will concept and develop on-trend consumer products with a focus on graphics as well as designing packaging, essentially being involved with a product or collection’s life-cycle from beginning to end. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of manufacturability while following budget constraints.

This individual must possess the creative and technical design abilities to complete various assignments and tasks. This role will be essential in the facilitation of the full product lifecycle from design inception to finished product.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working with multiple teams to create unique and exceptional consumer products with the ability to switch gears quickly from project to project while adhering to a schedule.

• Conceptualizing and thinking accurately in 3D and making renderings and illustrations of product front, side and back views in Illustrator or Photoshop.

• Provide technical specifications (product materials, colors, measurements, manufacturing processes and details) for each product so sampling and production can run accordingly.

• Develop new product packaging concepts. Prepare mock-ups, technical renderings and die lines.

• Create original print and pattern designs for use on products and packaging.

• Test and correct prototypes and samples to ensure original design vision and technical specifications are met in product form.

• Provide feedback and corrections to improve samples in preparation for mass production and final product approval.

• Ensure product quality, performance and safety meets company standards.

• Develop seasonal trend/mood boards for internal and external presentation purposes.

• Continually research new opportunities and design creative concepts that align with overall brand direction and objectives.

• Participate actively in various design reviews and company meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the areas of Industrial Design, Graphics Design, Fashion Design or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years experience working for a company in a related industry or product type. Internship experience will be considered.

• Knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes with focus on hard/soft goods, and packaging. Strong graphic design and illustration is a plus.

• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

• Strong graphic design and illustration skills is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

• Experience working in a related industry (fashion, toy, party goods, children’s, home) or on a related product type/category (soft goods, apparel, hard goods, paper goods).

• Knowledge of product construction and manufacturing techniques and processes.

• Keen attention to detail and technical understanding of product.

• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and a positive attitude.

• Ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment.

• Strong time management and problem solving abilities.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to work sitting at a computer work station for much of the day in an office environment.

The position is based in the company’s headquarters in Duluth, GA
