Help Desk Manager manages the staff and operations of an organization's technical help desk. Ensures team members are trained and coached on effective methods to research, troubleshoot, deliver solutions, and access the current product or technical updates. Being a Help Desk Manager trains the team on the help desk systems and tools to identify, document, track, and resolve reported problems. Identifies and gathers key metrics to analyze the help desk performance and identify problem areas. Additionally, Help Desk Manager monitors and measures service metrics and volume to develop standards, improvements, or changes to workflows and resource allocation. Acts as an escalation point and facilitator for severe, critical, or unique issues. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Help Desk Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Help Desk Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Salary range 55,000-58,000 annually.

    Requirements

    • Deploy new employee client machines and associated peripherals
    • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, including computer, printer, and networking issues, in a timely manner
    • Perform Active Directory user account administration
    • Maintain engineering and office printers
    • Maintain inventory of IT hardware and manage software licenses
    • Work with SolidWorks Support to resolve performance and/or application issues
    • Provide first level contact and convey resolutions to issues
    • Properly escalate unresolved queries to the next level of support
    • Walk customers through problem solving process
    • Follow up, provide feedback and see problems through to resolution
    • Utilize excellent customer service skills and exceed expectations
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Three-five years working in desk-side support environment
    • Windows experience
    • Strong technical computer skills
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize work activities
    • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
    • Proven working experience in providing help desk support
    • Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills
    • Strong client-facing and communication skills
    • Working knowledge of help desk software and databases

    Physical Qualifications

    • Be able to lift 25 pounds or greater
    • Be able to sit 90% of the work day at times
    • Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
    • Be able to read and comprehend position specific documents and correspondence
    • Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing
    • Be able to travel occasionally when needed by the most efficient means of transportation
    • Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device
    • Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule
