Overview
Bowling Green Flight Center is the contracted flight training provider for students in the professional flight program (Aviation Studies - Flight Technology and Operations specialization) at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Function
Under general direction displays leadership; serves as a mentor to flight instructors and students; assists in maintaining compliance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) in the training of students and performance of instructor duties.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
May include any and/or all of the following
· Conducts Instructional flights with students/ pilots. Demonstrates, observes, and evaluates students/ pilots’ ability to perform flight maneuvers required for FAA Pilot Certificates and Ratings.
· Satisfactorily completes initial and annual recurrent standardization required under FAR part 141.
· Conducts ground, simulator, and pre-flight inspection instructions including formal classroom presentations, utilizing appropriate audiovisual materials as necessary. Content of instruction includes information required for FAA Knowledge and Practical Tests for Pilot Certificates and Ratings.
· Supervises solo flight training of assigned student/ pilots.
· Assist in student flight and ground instruction scheduling, and occasionally with the dispatch of aircraft, and ground handling/ marshalling of aircraft.
· Evaluate student /pilot’s knowledge and proficiency. Prepares and submits appropriate documents to the Chief Flight Instructor for certificates and ratings.
· Maintain appropriate student training records according to FAR Part 61 and 141. Responsible for compliance with university academic guidelines/ policies covering course completion and grading.
· Complies with and enforces all University, College, Departmental, Program, and Bowling Green Flight Center rules and practices to include those stated in the Bowling Green Flight Center Student Flight Operations handbook.
· Assists in verification of citizenship and maintenance of TSA flight student training documentation compliance
· Monitors progress of students and student training records, as requested.
· Attends and actively participates in meetings with flight instructor staff; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred prior flight instructing experience
Must hold a valid FAA Third Class (or higher) Medical Certificate, Commercial Pilot ASEL and AMEL Certificate with Instrument Airplane rating, and Flight Instructor for ASEL, AMEL, and Instrument Airplane.
