Fleet Manager manages the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Oversees scheduling and dispatch operations for vehicles and drivers. Being a Fleet Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Fleet Manager administers insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participates in claim resolution. Develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Manages the fleet expense reporting and budgets. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Fleet Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Fleet Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description Summary

    Fleet Manager

    The Capital Pump & Equipment fleet manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the rental and support inventory. This includes leading all aspects of inventory and service functions including Inventory management, Transfers & Disposal, Fleet Maintenance Oversight, Purchasing, KPI development and management, as well as vendor relations.

    RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES

    • Fleet Management
      • Oversee the daily operation of the pump rental fleet - Monitor and track inventory daily by job site, type, and usage.
      • Ensure the availability and optimal performance of all rental inventory.
      • Prepare and track annual capex budgets.
      • Prepare, research, and order equipment and rolling stock.
      • Prepare and approve purchase orders for rental/specialty equipment.
    • Inventory Management
      • Monitor and maintain accurate records of all inventories.
      • Monitor and manage stock levels on pumps and related equipment.
      • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure accuracy.
      • Coordinate fleet movements between locations.
    • Service Oversight
      • Supervise maintenance and repair activities, ensuring timely and quality service.
      • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
      • Ensure all service and maintenance records are up to date and properly documented.
      • Address any issues related to pump performance and reliability.
      • Manage warranty claims to ensure proper and timely recovery.
    • Vendor Relations
      • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
      • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to maximize value.
      • Coordinate with vendors for supply of parts and services.
      • Monitor vendor performance and address any service or supply issues.
    • KPI Development and Management
      • Develop KPIs to measure fleet performance and operational efficiency.
      • Monitor KPIs and generate regular reporting to assess performance.
      • Implement strategies to improve KPIs and operational outcomes.
      • Analyze data and identify trends and areas for improvement.
      • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
    Education, Knowledge, Competencies & Skills Required

    • High School diploma required, bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial/municipal equipment rental and service with at least 2 years of management experience.
    • Must have a valid Driver's License.
    • Normal work hours are weekdays 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with additional time at work required according to customers' needs.
    • Must have solid computer skills.
    • Must be able to work independently, prioritize and accomplish deadlines.
    • Must have experience leading a team to complete department assigned projects.
    • Must have excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Must be able to travel as necessary to assigned branches.
    • Must be detail oriented and organized.
    • Must be able to multi-task and work on many different projects at one time.
