Finance Director directs an organization's financial policies, planning, reporting and controls. Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, risk, tax, and treasury. Being a Finance Director generally is the second most senior finance executive. Requires a master's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent. Additionally, Finance Director may require the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Typically reports to chief financial officer (CFO). The Finance Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Finance Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Duties and Responsibilities
    Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
     
    ·       Monthly financial statement preparation.
    ·       Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
    ·       Responsible for league financial reporting.
    ·       Maintain rolling forecast.
    ·       Identify and research budget variances.
    ·       Analyze financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data, while recommending actions.
    ·       Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications and coordinating information requirements.
    ·       Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; and recommending actions.
    ·       Assist with year-end audit and tax schedules as needed for auditors.
    ·       Other duties/responsibilities as assigned. 

    Qualifications
     
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
    • Minimum 3 - 5 years of professional work experience in Finance & Accounting required. 
    • CPA license a plus.
    • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  
    • Advanced Excel skills required. 
    • Accurate work product with attention to detail.
    • Strong presentation skills. 
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. 
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize own work.  
    • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
    • Discretion in handling confidential materials. 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, league employees, and external partners.
    • Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
    • Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
    • Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.  
    • Must have U.S. work authorization.
