Being an Ethics and Mission Integration Director reviews patient care outcomes and issues to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and ethics. Advises leaders with strategic planning and decision-making to ensure ethics and values are considered. Additionally, Ethics and Mission Integration Director typically requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ethics and Mission Integration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Center for Ethics and Economic Justice fulfills its mission a focus on integration of business ethics with a full and flourishing human life in order to promote the common good and human flourishing through personal, economic, cultural and spiritual growth and engagement. These goods are understood in light of the Catholic philosophical and theological tradition, especially as articulated through the school’s Jesuit charism. To this end, the Center focuses both on character formation of Loyola students and business leaders in the New Orleans community and the promotion of economic justice in the New Orleans region and around the world.  The next Legendre-Soulé Chair of Business Ethics will lead the Center and promote its mission, both through continuing the Center’s robust programming in accordance with its strategic plan as well as expanding and publicizing its work through his or her own teaching and a robust scholarly research agenda. 
     
    Founded in 1904 as Loyola College by the Society of Jesus, but with roots going back to 1847, Loyola is one of 27 Jesuit Catholic universities and colleges in the United States. Loyola has an enrollment of approximately 4,300 students, including 3,000 undergraduates, and the university offers 71 undergraduate programs and 14 graduate and professional degree programs. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 12 to 1, Loyola has a remarkably diverse undergraduate and graduate student population, and offers meaningful faculty interaction in a picturesque campus in Uptown New Orleans. Loyola has a deep commitment to opportunity and access, with approximately 89% of undergraduate students receiving financial aid and 28% first generation students.
     
    The Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business currently enrolls approximately 500 undergraduate students in degree programs leading to majors in accounting, analytics, economics, finance, management, marketing, and international business. Approximately 100 students are enrolled in graduate programs. The College of Business fulfills its mission to provide all Loyola business students with a foundation in knowledge through teaching and scholarship. The College educates students to lead meaningful lives with and for others; to appreciate and contribute to global cultures; to think critically and make decisions for the common good; and to have a commitment to the Jesuit tradition of a life of justice, service, and intellectual engagement. The College requires all undergraduate students to complete internships and provides career preparation through its Portfolio program. Undergraduate programs have been continuously accredited by AACSB since 1950, and graduate programs since 1974. The small size and collegial nature of the College afford a pleasant and productive working environment.
     PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    In role of Endowed Chair of Ethics, Reporting to the Dean of the College of Business
    • Commitment to teaching excellence, formation of students and an annual teaching load to be established in consultation with the Dean of the College of Business.
    • Commitment to maintaining a national reputation in academia through research productivity that contributes to the scholarly body of knowledge in a field of business and a publication record to warrant tenure at the rank of full professor in the College of Business. 
    • Commitment to contributing service to the department, the college and the university.
     
    In role of Faculty Director of the Center for Ethics and Economic Justice, Reporting to the Dean of the College of Business
    • Elevate the visibility of the Ethics Chair, by developing the goals for Center of Ethics and Economic Justice in order to foster an engaged community of learners through the creation of a distinctive Ethics related undergraduate experience that integrates academic and student life informed by the Roman Catholic theological and ethical tradition.
    • In serving as the Ethics Chair, provide leadership for public lectures, symposia, and other related programs to enhance the intellectual life of the University.
    • Work in close collaboration with the existing Center team, faculty and students involved in the College of Business, Dean of the College of Business, Alumni and Corporate partners to support the work of the Center for Ethics and Economic Justice.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • An understanding and commitment to the goals and values of a Jesuit education and the Catholic theological tradition;
    • An earned doctorate or terminal degree;
    • Extensive record of scholarly excellence;
    • Evidence of effective teaching experience;
    • A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
