Collects, analysis, and interprets disease data using appropriate statistical and research methods. Being an Epidemiologist reviews sterilization, disinfection and waste control techniques and recommends changes as needed. Develops and coordinates effective and practical interventions and procedures to control and prevent disease in the community or facility. Additionally, Epidemiologist typically requires a master's degree of microbiology. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Epidemiologist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. You will lead the implementation and coordination of their Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP), ensuring adherence to national and state regulatory standards.

    Focus:

    • Implement, maintain, and periodically update the infection control policies and procedures to prevent and control the spread of infections.
    • Conduct routine and comprehensive surveillance for healthcare-acquired infections across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective infection control measures in accordance with the recommendations from regulatory bodies such as CMS, OSHA, and the CDC.
    • Provide ongoing education and training to staff members on infection prevention practices.
    • Support and participate in the activities of the Infection Control Committee.
    • Develop action plans in collaboration with healthcare teams to minimize hospital-acquired infections.
    • Serve as a resource for infection prevention, offering guidance and expert advice on relevant topics.
    • Ensure rigorous compliance with all relevant regulations and accreditation standards.
    • Gather, evaluate, and report infection rate data to promote ongoing enhancement.
    • Collaborate with construction teams to integrate infection prevention measures in facility planning and new constructions.
    • Respond to emergent situations effectively to manage and control outbreaks.
    • Engage with local, state, and national health agencies on matters related to infection prevention.
    • Lead outbreak investigations and report communicable diseases as required.

    Skill Set:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a relevant clinical specialty.
    • A minimum of three years of industry experience.
    • Current licensure to practice in the state, with no restrictions or stipulations.
    • One to three years of specialized experience in managing infection threats is desirable.
    • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is highly preferred.
