An innovative data driven Medical Device company with major growth plans are looking for a Director of Data Science / Machine Learning to manage and build their Data Science function.

As the Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive plan to leverage computational techniques and AI in the field of medical devices. Your primary duties will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing AI-driven solutions, and expediting the development of cutting-edge medical devices. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead an innovative team and shape the future of medical device innovation with a focus on computational approaches.

Responsibilities:

• Create and implement a comprehensive machine learning strategy tailored to the realm of medical devices, encompassing model creation, deployment, and data gathering.
• Supervise the successful execution of AI projects by providing leadership and guidance to a team of computational scientists, data analysts, and machine learning specialists.
• Collaborate closely with biomedical engineers, product designers, and other stakeholders to integrate computational approaches and machine learning techniques into the medical device innovation process.
• Lead the development of prediction models and algorithms, emphasizing principles relevant to medical devices, to identify promising innovations, enhance existing designs, and predict device-user interactions.
• Devise experiments and validation protocols to ensure the precision and dependability of machine learning models, specifically within the context of medical devices.
• Stay informed about pertinent regulatory guidelines and guarantee adherence to industry standards and best practices in the field of medical device innovation and computational techniques.
• Remain up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in machine learning, medical device design, and innovation, proposing inventive solutions to drive progress

Background:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in machine learning and AI teams with an emphasis on regulated devices.
• Proficiency in data analysis, deep learning, and machine learning methods.
• Expertise with programming languages like Python and knowledge of machine learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow and PyTorch).
• Excellent management and leadership abilities.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience with computational chemistry software and tools is a plus.
