Being a Court Reporter has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Additionally, Court Reporter works under immediate supervision.     What You Will Do

    • Record verbatim proceedings of courts, legislative assemblies, committee meetings, and other proceedings, using stenograph machines
    • Prepare accurate final transcript per client’s request/ Submit final ASCII via online portal
    • Proofread transcripts for correct spelling of words
    • Ask speakers to clarify inaudible statements
    • Provide transcripts of proceedings upon request of judges, lawyers, or the public
    • Transcribe recorded proceedings in accordance with established formats

    What You Will Need

    • Certified Shorthand Reporters (CSR) license, where applicable
    • NCRA Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification, if your state does not offer a license
