    The Behavioral Health Director administers all mental health services at Tepeyac Community Health Center and ensures that the BH program is providing evidenced-based, high quality care. As part of the primary care treatment team, this position participates in the development of an integrated behavioral health program with primary care, dental, and pharmacy, in addition to supporting behavioral health staff through clinical skill development and supervision/consultation. The BH Director provides mental health treatment in both the medical and more traditional BH contexts. This position supports organization-wide leadership, ensuring the success of Tepeyac’s team-based care and patient centered medical home efforts. The BH Director represents Tepeyac in the broader health care community.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    • Function as the clinical and administrative leader for the mental health program

    • Provide clinical administration and direction to all behavioral health services, and related functional areas.

    • Ensures that the mission and goals of the organization are realized through the professional and effective delivery of oral health services.

    • Position is a mix of clinical and supervisory duties, with the division determined by the number of unlicensed staff needing direct supervision; 70% clinical and 30% administrative


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Clinical – 70%:

    From a strength-based, patient-centered, trauma-informed perspective, offer integrated care services. These include (but are not limited to):

    • Direct behavioral health integration model and provide direct patient care.

    • Mental health screening using standardized utilizing zed instruments.

    • Managing psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute diseases.

    • Teaching clients and families using prevention and treatment enhancement techniques.

    • Providing PCP-initiated consultation services that may include differential diagnosis, psychoeducation, brief intervention, and referral for further treatment.

    • Consulting with and advising other health care team members on the methods of assisting patients and their families in overcoming social and emotional difficulties which may prevent effective health care.

    Administrative – 30%:

    • Ensures that programs and activities conducted under the purview of their leadership adhere to federal, state, and local laws and regulations, applicable program requirements, and Tepeyac policies and procedures.

    • Ensures that programs and activities conducted under the purview of their leadership are conducted with consideration to qualify of care, health equity, risk management and mitigation, safety, efficiency and cost efficacy, general best practices, and the interests of Tepeyac.

    • Identify, implement, and monitor patient service standards to ensure the program is meeting patient needs and performs all services in a culturally sensitive manner.

    • Facilitate team meetings, in-services and supervisory sessions that include ethical guidelines for decision making and the various aspects of supervision

    • Establish productivity benchmarks and ensure that staff members are acting in line with the core values of the organization.

    •Promote student intern program for students enrolled in Denver area universities. Recruit, train, and provide administrative supervision and/or clinical supervision.

    • Participate in the development of long and short-term goals for the Behavioral Health Program that are consistent with organizational goals.

    • Stay current on BH best practices and initiatives at the local and national level.

    • Build and maintain community relationships with other CHCs, mental health centers, universities, funders, and community partners. Along with other leadership team members, represent Tepeyac at official external functions, meetings, and events.

    • Work closely with CHO and COO, in addition to conducting quality improvement activities,

    • Member of the leadership team helps in developing and testing creative solutions that turn the mission into tangible and measurable results.

    • Assist in strategic planning, site visits, staff retreat and meetings, reviewing and providing input for BH related grants presentations on a variety of issues.

    • In collaboration with the Grant Manager ensures implementation and execution on grants deliverable.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Attending required internal meetings, trainings, and events.

    • Develop relationships with relevant community and mental health agencies.

    • Other duties as assigned.


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum Education and Licensure:

    • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in counseling, psychology, or clinical social work.

    • Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Colorado.

    • Credentialed as a clinical supervisor by a nationally recognized credentialing organization, such as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). AAMFT approved supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) preferred, but not required.

    • Training in the principles of integrated care.

    Minimum Experience:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a psychotherapist , minimum of 2 years of qualifying supervision experience, in addition to at least 3 years of high-level leadership experience in providing mental health care to low income and culturally diverse individuals.

    • 1 year or more of work experience in integrated care. Competency in providing substance use disorder (SUD) treatment is a plus, as is experience in specialized therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

    • Oral and written fluency in English and oral fluency in Spanish required.

    Supervision:

    • This position supervises Behavioral Health Providers (BHPs) and BHPs that are candidates for licensure, to include signing off on evaluations and progress notes.

    • Will supervise interns and /or volunteers at times.

    • Ability to provide diagnostic assessments DSM 5R and appropriate diagnostic assessments.

    • Familiarity with medical terminology, psychosocial management of common medical conditions, and psychotherapeutic drugs commonly used in primary care practices.

    • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, and ability to evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions.

    • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills.

    • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with multi-disciplinary professionals and agencies. Creative a positive approach to problem-solving.

    • Ability to document concisely, accurately and in a timely manner.

    • Ability to handle a variety of duties which may be interrupted by immediate circumstances. Ability to execute work plans, manage caseload independently, multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.


    Pay and Benefits: • Benefits: Tepeyac Community Health Center offers a comprehensive compensation package to all fulltime employees. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, a flexible spending account, a 401k, disability insurance paid for by Tepeyac, nine paid holidays, approximately four weeks of paid time off each year and over a week of sick time. The hiring salary range for the BH Director is $93,500.00- $105,000.00 depending on experience.
