This person will work with a team of editors and reporters to publish thorough, accurate, accessible, well-written copy with a top-notch visual presentation.
We expect excellent editing chops, organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail. You will be responsible for final reads, minor rewrites, fact-checking, identifying errors and omissions, conforming to VTDigger’s style, and working with reporters to ensure the fairness and accuracy of stories. Given VTDigger’s commitment to better serving the communities we cover, we’ll expect you to edit with a lens of equity and inclusion.
You will be responsible for the presentation of stories on VTDigger’s website and you’ll have a variety of responsibilities related to social media, newsletters, graphics, opinion and obituaries. When news breaks after hours, you’ll determine what steps to take and may cover it yourself. You’ll report to a senior editor and collaborate with all of VTDigger’s editors to ensure that standards and deadlines are met — and to improve our work processes and organizational culture.
