About Us
The Landfill Section operates the City’s construction and demolition landfill, industrial landfill, and composting site as well as maintains the current and past landfills following closure, per State and Federal regulations.
These operations provide a means of disposal for public and City waste, primarily street sweepings, illegal dumping, neighborhood clean ups, construction debris, and grass clippings.
The operation of open and closed landfills is key in ensuring Wichita’s continued focus on Environmental Health and Safety.
Position Description
This is simple and repetitive clerical work of a routine nature at the landfill scale house operating a point-of-sale (POS) system and maintaining records which involves computer operation and the application of basic bookkeeping principles.
Tasks generally include POS entry, financial transactions with customers, and answering incoming calls. Work is performed in accordance with policies and procedures.
Work is assigned and reviewed by a higher-level position.
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION
The days and hours for this position : Saturday 7 : 30 AM-2 : 30 PM (March-October) / 7 : 30 AM-12 : 30 PM (November-February) and Monday-Friday Various between 7 : 00am-5 : 30pm, not to exceed 56 hours per pay period; Sunday off
