Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. JOB TITLE/LOCATION:
Chemical Engineer – Oxford, CT
DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the New Product and Process Development Group Manager, the positon of Chemical Engineer will be responsible for the development and testing of new products and the associated manufacturing processes. The Chemical Engineer will primary work on products and components related to RBC self-lubricating liner products which involve resin, structural and lubricant fillers, composites, improvements in adhesion. Additional development projects include development and troubleshooting of lubricants (greases and oils), bearing seals, cleaning and plating baths, as well as other chemical processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Development of new-engineered products for RBC Bearings.
- Provide chemical process development expertise and assistance to RBC Divisions.
- Assist RBC Divisions with manufacturing troubleshooting.
- Perform analytical analyses of current and newly developed products and processing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
- Knowledge of thermosetting resins, thermoplastics and elastomers a plus
- Knowledge of composite systems, and manufacturing techniques a plus
- Knowledge of plating principles and practices a plus
- Analytical chemistry knowledge, especially with FTIR and DSC.
