    The Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) is responsible for providing high-quality home-based and community-based services to youth and their families utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed approach and providing direct substance abuse and co-occurring disorders services including but not limited to, substance abuse counseling, rehabilitative skills training, case management, care coordination, symptom management and crisis intervention. The Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) will work with the provider community to develop responsive and flexible resources that facilitate community-based interventions and supports that correspond with the needs of the youth and families. Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) will conduct assessment of strengths and needs at regular intervals to ensure optimal and personalized services. The Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) will work with a Youth and Family Team for each youth and family with the purpose of being instrumental in developing effective Service Plans. The Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) will ensure to comply with all documentation policies and procedures. The Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor (LCDC) will maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to work more than a normal workday and be on-call to facilitate program services

     

    Essential Functions:

    • Therapeutically engage and form partnership with youth and families to empower them towards self-sufficiency.
    • Conduct initial intake with all youth and family/guardian.
    • Ensure the timely completion of all Intake paperwork, Assessments, service documentation and Service Plans in accordance with Southwest Key Programs (SWK) policy.
    • Ensure all daily documentation is completed and entered all required databases in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with all youth and families.
    • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for youth and their families as needed.
    • Convene and coordinate the Youth and Family Team as required for planning and collaboration on goal creation and attainment.
    • Facilitates psycho-education classes, substance abuse group therapy, support groups, and substance abuse individual counseling.
    • Assess the efficacy of the interventions and the added value towards goal attainment.
    • Empower the youth’s and family’s long-term commitment and participation.
    • Create and maintain effective and professional relationship with community partners and stakeholders.
    • Assist the youth and family in building natural supports, linkages and access to community resources that can be used by the family while served and post services.
    • Support the timely submission of claims by providing additional information as requested by Billing Specialist or Behavioral Program Manager.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Other Functions:

    • Attend and participate in all required professional trainings and workshops.
    • Maintain open and consistent communication with Behavioral Program Manager or designee, clinician, and other team members.
    • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
    • Able to on-call for crisis intervention.
    • Able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • A combination of one of the following:
      • Bachelor’s degree in a social service or related field with two (2) years’ experience working with at risk youth and their families; may include part time, volunteer, or internship experience.
      • A Master’s degree in social services or related field.
    • Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing
    • Works well independently and as an effective team member.
    • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Word, Excel), variety of online database systems.
    • Possess good verbal and writing skills.
    • Clear criminal background check and motor vehicle check from appropriate entities.
    • Must possess a valid state driver’s license, registration and maintain state mandated car insurance.
    • Well organized, meticulous and thorough in work habits but not limited to scheduling, use of time responsive to emails and phone calls.
    • Must be bilingual; proficient in English and Spanish

    Physical Demands:

    Must be able to obtain First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to verify client’s whereabouts by driving, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. Daily use of various office equipment. Bending, stooping, climbing up stairs and lifting to 15 lbs. required to complete daily tasks.

    Work Environment:

    This is a program which requires daily contact at various youth and family and community locations. Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. This position may require extended periods of time in an automobile. Exposed to prevalent weather conditions.
