    Description of the Working Environment : Work is performed in a maintenance shop setting. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of heavy mobile equipment, such as : construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment.

    Equipment may include bulldozers, graders, tractors, trucks, tracked recovery vehicles, ambulances, generators and forklifts.

    Remove and replace major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators.

    perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and perform minor body work. Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.

    Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions : Work is performed inside and occasionally outside.

    The incumbent must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. The incumbent is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, and vehicle exhaust fumes.

    Incumbent is exposed to some inclement weather such as wind and rain. Subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains.

    Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
