We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Instructor of Social Work who is passionate about cultivating the school's mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student. Because of our commitment to community, employment preference is given to residents who live in WV and the New River Community Technical College service area.
This position is a Full-time position and will report directly to the Dean, Transfer and Pre-Professional Programs. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.
Job Summary
The Instructor of Social Services Program is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that encourages development in harmony with the school’s mission, and values. He or she also promotes and directs successful student learning in keeping with the learning-centered values and goals of the school. As instructor, the primary role is instruction of the program’s curriculum, but also includes recruiting, advising, and coordination of student field experiences. The Associate of Science degree in Social Services is designed for students who want to prepare for careers with social service agencies. Upon completion of the program, students can go to work at a higher rate of pay in direct service jobs or choose to continue their education.
Nature of Work
The college instructor will be directly responsible to the Dean of the program and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs. Some authority of the specific Vice President/Dean will be delegated to the Division Chairperson with whom the instructor will work cooperatively in the best interest of the college and its students.
