Elevate cases to be referred to investigative firms and outside legal counsel. Implement and oversee claims best practices. Leads a team of life insurance or annuity claims specialist, incorporating continuous improvement with technology and business practices to deliver operational results, including member experience, strategic alignment with business goals and claims expense outcomes. Responsible for resolving claims handling issues and formal complaints from members, financial professionals, beneficiaries, and firm partners. Manages third party relationships, as appropriate, to mitigate risk for claims and drive efficiency. Monitor the performance of vendors including claims service providers and investigative firms. Develops direct reports to achieve high performance in current roles and prepare them for future roles. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Leads five to 15 associates at various levels. Reports to The Director, Beneficiary Services- Life & Annuity Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, management, finance, pre-law or related field and/or technical insurance coursework preferred. MBA preferred. License/Certification/Designation: Experience: 7 years of financial services experiences in a customer service, quality control or operations environment. Broad experience and understanding of managing Annuity and Life Claims. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Extensive knowledge of insurance industry concepts including, but not limited to, financial services products, regulations and guidelines. Effective team leadership and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make decisions and build consensus with peers. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
