Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives. Stop Loss Actuarial Analyst III

  • Location: Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy, providing various levels of flexibility while also ensuring that associates have opportunities to connect in-person. Unless in a designated virtual-eligible role and specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week.     The Stop Loss Actuarial Analyst III completes very diverse and complicated projects and performs very complex actuarial studies for our Employer Group Stop Loss segment, supporting Pricing functions. In particular, this role will primarily focus on our Wellpoint Stop Loss LOB.

    How You Will Make An Impact

    Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

    • Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work; and prepares management reports.
    • Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists.
    • Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.

    Minimum Requirements

    Requires a BA/BS and to have passed a minimum of four Society of Actuaries (SOA) actuarial exams and a minimum of 3 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

    Preferred Skills, Capabilities And Experiences

    Knowledge or work experience in the Stop Loss product area is highly preferred.

    For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $88,000.00 to $158,400.00
