This month in history

April 13, 1997- 21-year-old Tiger Woods won the Masters by a record 12 strokes, helping him to earn $20 million in winnings and endorsements in only his second year on the PGA Tour. Through last season, Tiger Woods has earned close to $550 million in winnings and endorsements, including $87 million in 2005. It is predicted that Woods will be the world's first billion dollar athlete by the time he is 35 years old.

According to President Bush's 2005 tax return, the president paid $187,768 in federal taxes this year, based on adjusted gross income of $735,180. The White House also reported this week that Vice President Cheney and his wife overpaid their taxes and are getting a refund of $1.9 million, based on adjusted gross income of
$8.82 million.
