Salary.com™ Releases Results Of The 2007 Human Resources Compensation Survey

Survey includes compensation data reported by more than 360 organizations ranging in size from 8 to 355,555 employees

Waltham, MA, June 21 st, 2007 -- Salary.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: SLRY), a leading provider of on demand compensation management solutions, today released the results of its 2007 Human Resources Compensation Survey. The survey report includes pay data from over 360 organizations for 115 human resource job titles broken out by industry, geographic location, type of organization, and size of organization in terms of number of employees and annual revenue.

"This survey reflects a good cross-section of the American economy," said Joe Kilmartin, director of compensation at Salary.com. "As the Human Resources function grows in importance, organizations can use our findings to ensure that their compensation attracts, motivates, and retains key employees."

The survey reports that the national median salary for an HR Manager is $78,800; however, salaries vary widely across geographies. For example, HR Managers in New York earn $92,100 annually – 27 percent more than their counterparts in North Carolina. The national median target bonus for HR Manager is 10 percent.

Compensation for human resource professionals varies across industries as well, with the finance and insurance industry paying its HR Managers $94,400, or 20 percent higher than the national median, and several industries paying below the national median. For example, the healthcare and social assistance industry pays $70,800 (11 percent lower than the national median) and the public administration industry pays $72,800 (8 percent lower).

The 2007 Human Resources Compensation Survey report presents data reported by HR departments for 115 human resource job titles, from more than 360 organizations and is split into more than 95 “scopes”. Participants represent a broad range of industries across the United States and range in size from 8 to 355,555 employees. The survey reports pay practices within five regions – Northeast, South, Midwest, Mountain States and West Coast. The data is further divided by sub-regions, which include New England, NY-NJ, Mid-Atlantic, Middle Southeast, Lower Southeast, Great Lakes, Central Plains, South Central, Mountain States, Pacific Northwest and Pacific Southwest.
