Waltham, MA,
November 1st, 2006
-- Salary.com, Inc., a leading provider of on demand compensation management solutions, and The Titan Group LLC, a strategic human resources consultancy, today announced the publication of the 2006 Greater Richmond Compensation and Benefits Survey reports. Covering a full spectrum of positions from Chief Financial Officer to Housekeeper, the compensation survey reports employee pay data for 180 key jobs found in the greater Richmond area. The benefits report includes competitive data on employer practices regarding health benefits, life/disability insurance, retirement benefits, paid leave, and relocation programs.
Employers are increasingly attracted to the Richmond area because of low costs. Recent years have seen the relocation of Philip Morris USA’s corporate headquarters to Richmond, and a significant expansion in Wachovia Securities’ workforce following its merger with Prudential Securities. As Richmond’s economy expands, local organizations must ensure that their employee pay and benefits packages remain competitive. The 2006 Greater Richmond Compensation and Benefits Survey reports give employers the market data they need to set compensation at levels that will attract and retain employees.
A total of 94 organizations participated in the 2006 surveys, including some of Richmond’s largest and most well known companies. Nearly one-half of survey participants reported being privately owned, while a third of organizations were either not-for-profit or government entities. Approximately 18% of participants indicated they were public companies. Participants represent a broad range of industries and range in size from 5 to 73,000 employees, with an average size of 2,531 employees.
The 2006 Compensation Survey report displays base pay and variable pay data for 180 benchmark jobs, a significant increase from the 57 jobs reported in last year’s survey. The jobs are in the following main categories:

“These survey reports will be a very useful tool for any employer,” explained Lee Weisiger, Co-Owner and Principal of the Titan Group. “The survey reports can aid employers of any size in measuring their salaries and benefits against local competition, particularly for recruiting purposes. We are finding that many employers are becoming increasingly concerned about being able to provide a competitive compensation package in this labor market. This survey gives them the information to help them track local wage rates and adjust accordingly.”
