-- Salary.com Surveys announced today the publication of their 2006 Six Sigma Compensation Survey report.
The report contains data on 7 key Six Sigma jobs including:
Top Six Sigma Executive

Black Belt – Manufacturing/Engineering

Green Belt – Administrative/Staff
114 organizations from various industries throughout the United States participated in the 2006 Survey. This is a 70% increase over the number of organizations that participated in the 2005 Survey, making it the largest and most comprehensive Six Sigma survey conducted by and for compensation professionals.
Compensation levels for the top three jobs are strongly related to revenue, with Six Sigma executives and managers in the largest organizations – those with revenue over $10B – earning a significant premium over those in smaller organizations.
The national medians for those three jobs are:
| |
Salary |
Total Cash |
| Top Six Sigma Executive |
$191.0 |
$227.0 |
| Director of Deployment |
$138.0 |
$165.0 |
| Six Sigma Master Black Belt |

$126.8 |
Pay levels for Six Sigma professionals working in the northeast and on the west coast were higher than those in other parts of the country.
Green Belts and Black Belts in administrative and staff functions received higher levels of compensation than did those in manufacturing and engineering functions.
Over two-thirds of Top Six Sigma Executives and over one-half of Directors of Deployment were eligible for long-term incentives. Stock options were more prevalent in public organizations while long-term cash was more frequently found in private organizations.
Participants in the 2006 Six Sigma Compensation Survey received complimentary copies of the survey results. The survey report is available for purchase by non-participants. For more information, call 1-800-573-7781 or go to http://sixsigma.salary.com.
