Assessment tool

The ITG Individual / Team Assessment Tool has been designed to provide a low-cost capability to do a proof of concept Competency Gap Analysis pilot with an ITG competency model. The tool delivers the essentials of a Gap Analysis without first having to build or select and acquire a specific competency management software application or vendor. It is designed to be used for a team of employees within a single job family.

The tool includes ITG competency model data and a basic platform component – a set of interconnected Excel-based workbooks that allows you to

    • Customize team roles and associated competencies and proficiency requirements.
    • Create, distribute and collect individual assessment data (self-assessment only).
    • Produce individual gap analyses and development plans for each team member.
    • Generate team gap analysis and competency vulnerability reports.
The pilot is designed to accommodate:
    • 1 job family from any of the ITG models.
    • Up to 50 of the most important business, individual, management and technical competencies
from the corresponding model.
    • Up to 20 jobs from the corresponding model.
    • Up to 200 employees.

Employee Assessment Example

The illustration shows a small portion of one of the key worksheets from the tool. The employee assesses his/her current degree of proficiency in each of the competencies required by the job and enters the appropriate value (1-4) in column E. The tool then shows the gap between the employee’s proficiency level and the proficiency level required by the job in column L. Gaps with negative values indicate areas which need to be focused on by the employee. Gaps with positive values show areas of strength for the employee.
