In yet another fast-growing health care related career, audiologists play a very important role in administering and interpreting a variety of tests -- such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests -- to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Most audiologists require a master's degree, and work with patients of all ages (although most tend to be elderly) who are suffering from hearing loss. They are often tasked with prescribing hearing aids and fitting cochlear implants.

According to the BLS, nearly 5,000 new audiologist jobs will be created by 2020. Although it requires time and education, its rate of growth makes it a worthy investment.
