Polysomnographic Technician under the direction of a physician, administers various sleep studies in order to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents other test results, and collects and transmits biological specimens for analysis. Being a Polysomnographic Technician typically requires an associate degree or its equivalent and certification as a Polysomnographic Technician. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Must acquire and maintain special technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care. SCHEDULE Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 6:30pm to 7am. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred/Optional: Graduate of a CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited polysomnographic technology program. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: One year experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Certified Respiratory Technician (CRT), Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (END), or Polysomnographic Technologist. Preferred/Optional: Two years’ experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position. Minimum Required: Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT). Basic Life Support (BLS) awarded by the American Heart Association. During the time that the technician is not registered in polysomnography and unable to work independently, they will work under the supervision of a registered Polysomnographic Technologist. If a supervising technologist is unavailable, the technician may need to be utilized in a different role. SCHEDULE Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 6:30pm to 7am. EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: None Preferred/Optional: Previous experience as a Polysomnographic Technician or two years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Technician, or Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist.
